With song titles like "Drowsy Haze", "Fever Dream", and "Under Thunder and Gale", it should be no surprise that A Name Writ in Water, The One AM Radio's second album, is a continuation of the dreamy pop present on their full-length debut The Hum of the Electric Air.
While the album maintains a heavy dose of electronic ambiance, Hrishikesh Hirway manages to preserve a very organic essence that prevents the tracks from sounding too artificial. Hirway's fondness of the natural extends into all aspects of the album through frequent geographical and elemental references. The cyclical character of the Earth seems to be embedded in the album as it naturally ebbs and flows. These cycles provide a smooth transition between upbeat tracks ("This Is a Document" and the more mellow ones ("Buried Below"). These slight variations keep the album from becoming monotonous while preserving its overall peaceful feel.
