Box Heart Man
Times Beach Records

A quick glance at the tracklist of Box Heart Man reveals something not often seen, each track title is simply one word. With titles such as "Hope" and "Divine" Mark Dignam could easily slip into trite territory, but Dignam's strong lyrical skill prevents any such thing from happening. The broad, human quality of Dignam's lyrics are likely what has allowed the performer to achieve success on both sides of the Atlantic.

Originally from Dublin, Ireland, Dignam now calls Pittsburgh home and on Box Heart Man he was assisted by several labelmates including Ethan Daniel Davidson, Audra Kubat, and Eric Hoegemeyer (Gold Cash Gold). The team of musicians creates a rich landscape on "Flags" and a lively musical break in the middle of "Kindred", but as with the song titles, Dignam keeps the musical arrangements focused, allowing his voice and guitar to get the point across.
