New Brian Vander Ark Album Due in September
Brian Vander Ark, former singer of The Verve Pipe, is releasing his self-titled third solo album on September 30th. Interestingly, the new album was funded primarily by Vander Ark’s touring last year which included playing in fans’ living rooms and backyards.
Here’s a sample of a track from each of Vander Ark’s previous solo releases:
- “I Went With The Road” from Brian Vander Ark

Brian has launched a new Web site that captures his independent spirit and penchant for performing at off-the-beaten path venues. For help, he turned to his friends at Farstar (www.wedontplayfair.com), a technology-based interactive marketing firm in Frisco, Texas. Farstar set out to create a dynamic site for Brian’s fans, but also one that Brian could easily update while on the road.
The result was http://www.brianvanderark.com. Incorporating technologies such as Adobe Flash and Adobe Flex, and using a proprietary platform consisting of XML, PHP and MySQL, fans are immersed in everything Brian Vander Ark. In addition to the rich user experience for both Brian and his fans, Farstar implemented its unique behavior analytics engine so Brian can quickly and easily learn about each user’s actions, time spent on each part of the site, and buying patterns to uniquely market to each fan in the future.
Using Farstar’s custom-developed content management system, Brian can make updates from the road, adding new shows, the latest news, blog entries, and even uploading newly recorded songs on the fly – all showing up on his rich Flash Web site in real time. Brian is light years ahead of other independent artists – and even major labels – with this site’s development.
Independent label artists depend on a grassroots effort of dedicated fans to grow their music base and seek out unique and interesting ways of reaching people. Brian now has a professionally designed Web site that rivals those of today’s top recording artists. He can reach out with a stronger Internet presence that surpasses social networking sites; and with the ability to make updates so easily, Brian’s site can constantly change and stay fresh while maintaining the look and feel throughout.
Farstar’s team has a real interest in enabling independent artists to compete with major labels and maintaining growth during the continued diversification of the music industry. By incorporating new rule-breaking tactics like Radiohead used with their latest album launch, Farstar hopes to provide independent artists with the platform to reach fans by creative, non-traditional means.
