Ben Gibbard + Zooey Deschanel = Getting Hitched

People.com reported earlier this week that Death Cab for Cutie front-man Ben Gibbard and actress/singer Zooey Deschanel are officially engaged. Deschanel released the album Volume One with M. Ward earlier this year under the name She & Him. You can check out the track “Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?” on our New Song Daily podcast.

Couple of Quick Christmas Songs

So I’ve done what I can to avoid posting any Christmas/Holiday songs here, leaving it mainly to the experts such as the good folks over at Donewaiting and their Christmas blog. This isn’t out of any particular hate for seasonal music or anything, but anyway, I’m heading out on the road tomorrow to visit the fam and thought I’d leave a couple Christmas tracks for you to enjoy.

Wild Light Prepare for a Busy 2009

Adult Nights CoverWinning the “Outstanding Rock Act of the Year” title at the 2008 Boston Music Awards is a pretty damn good way to close out a year and Wild Light are only going to build upon the momentum of that victory in 2009.

Leading up to the release of their debut album Adult Nights on March 3rd of 2009 (full track listing below), the group will be touring for a solid two months with music blog favorites Tapes ‘n Tapes. Four tracks from the album are available for streaming on the Wild Light MySpace page and if there’s just one track you check out, make it the opening track “California On My Mind”. I’m not typically a fan of harmonica, but this song will the source of some serious enjoyment through the spring of 2009.
