The Sound of Young America Interview Terry Gilliam

A podcast about things that are awesome, The Sound of Young America itself is awesome. I’ve been a big fan of this show since I first discovered it and it’s awesome theme song. I like the theme song so much that I even included it on one of my podcasts!

Anyway, Jesse “America’s Radio Sweetheart” Thorn has interviewed quite a few worthy individuals (check his archive), but this week he’s particularly excited about his very awesome guest Terry Gilliam who was a memeber of Monty Python’s Flying Circus and director of a number of excellent films.

Check out the interview with Terry Gilliam. Oh, and when you go to the page and have the “isn’t that Chris Elliott?” thought, it’s because it is, he’s the other guest ont he show.

Stream Owen’s New Album; See Owen on Tour

Owen - At Home With CoverThanks to the folks over at Emotional Punk, I’m enjoying my lunch break by listening to a stream of Owen’s album At Home With Owen which is coming out on Polyvinyl Records November 11th. Owen is the solo project of Mike Kinsella who has been involved with Cap’n Jazz, Joan of Arc, American Football, and Owls.

Although At Home With Owen features a cleaner, more professional sounding Owen, the songs are still very much in line with what you’d expect an Owen song to sound like as Kinsella’s vocals and quiet guitar style reamain intact. If you’re not feeling the streaming thing or just want to take some new Owen on-the-go, an MP3 of “Bad News” is linked in the tracklisting.

Looking at the tracklisting you will notice that the album includes a cover of Velvet Underground’s “Femme Fatale”. I’ll personally stick with VU’s version, but it’s still worth checking out the stream for.
