As previously reported, Detroit will be holding its first ever Rock City Festival this June. The two-day event will feature two stages with gates opening at 2 pm both days.

In further support of their most recent release, We Shall All Be Healed, The Mountain Goats will be embarking on a very brief—only 9 days—tour with labelmate Vinny Miller and We Ragazzi. I guess it could be referred to more accurately as a quick jaunt down the West Coast. In addition to the dates with Vinny Miller and We Ragazzi, one performance at the Empty Bottle in Chicago will take place June 4th with Archer Prewitt and Buried Beds.

Summer is coming and that means the arrival of the music festival season and this year a new two-day festival will be taking place in Detroit. The Rock City Festival will be taking place June 19th & 20th on five acres of land behind the Majestic Theater in Detroit’s Cultural Center.

The event, which is all ages and amazingly, also free, will feature local artists. So far the list of performers includes: Brendan Benson, The Dirtbombs, The Detroit Cobras, The Paybacks, and The Sights. With two days and two stages to fill, there are still many acts to be added to the bill.
