Release Date Set for New PJ Harvey Album

It has been a while since we’ve heard from PJ Harvey, but those of you that consider her a goddess, no longer need to fear. The follow up to 2000’s Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea will be released on May 31st in the UK with a planned North American release date of June 8th. If you can’t stand to wait that long, a taste of the new album will be available on May 17th in the form of a single for “The Letter”.

On her seventh album, Uh Huh Her, Harvey relied primarily on only her own abilities. Other than some help from Head with recording and mixing, as well as the drumming of long time collaborator Rob Ellis, Harvey took care of all songwriting, performing, recording, mixing, and producing.

The tracklist for the album is:

1.The Life and Death of Mr Badmouth
2.Shame
3.Who The Fuck?
4.The Pocket Knife
5.The Letter

8.Cat on the Wall

The Pixies to Play Bumbershoot

Yesterday, Pitchfork announced an expansion of The Pixies’ world tour. The announcement, however, failed to mention that The Pixies are now officially booked to play Bumbershoot, the annual Seattle art festival that in the past has been host to artists such as Modest Mouse, Sonic Youth, R.E.M., Wilco, Bonnie Raitt, and a huge handful of others.

An official day-by-day lineup of performers at Bumbershoot has not been released yet, but the event will span September 3-6. Also announced as performing are: Nas, Harvey Pekar, and Koko Taylor with the rest announced later. Tickets go on sale March 24th, so if you weren’t able to get your tickets to any of the small venue Pixies shows or just couldn’t afford to buy tickets on eBay, here’s another chance for you to stick it to the man and be a winner.
