Sonic Youth to Open for The Stooges and Play Festivals

Sonic Youth will be opening for the reformed Iggy and the Stooges on two nights in August as well as playing a couple of festivals. The Don’t Knock the Rock Festival consists of three days of film screenings and concerts. The Sonic Youth documentary film 1991: The Year that Punk Broke is among the titles to be viewed.

Also, the deluxe version of Dirty is to be released on a quadruple vinyl boxed set on Sonic Youth’s own Goofin/SYR imprint. This release will feature numerous b-sides and unrelease rehearsal recordings. Plus, if you cut the vinyl into a convenient 5.5″ circle and put it in your computer, it’ll play videos!

Donnas Nominated for an MTV VMA; Perform on Various TV Shows

The Donnas were recently nominated for Best Group Video along with Coldplay, Good Charlotte, B2K, and the White Stripes for this year’s MTV VMAs which will be taking place August 28th.

August will also be a busy month for The Donnas as they’ll be making three TV appearances. The first will be a live performance on August 6th at the Fox Teen Choice Awards hosted by David Spade. The other tapings are for the August 8th Last Call w/ Carson Daly and the View’s August 18th show. Now that’s taking advantage of the major label’s publicity resources!

Dashboard Confessional Announces Tour Dates

Following their departure from the Beck Tour, the Chris Carrabba Show aka Dashboard Confessional will be heading out as headliners this fall. Tour dates between August 30th and September 18th are already on sale with the majority of remaining tour dates to go on sale beginning July 18th. The tour dates, along with a message indicating that Dasboard Confessional, like Pearl Jam, is trying to fight the ticket man can be found here.

Green Rode Shotgun Play “Pre-4th” Party and More…

Equally confused as the rest of us, Nashville’s finest, Green Rode Shotgun, will be playing a “Pre-4th” party on July 3rd. In addition to that date, the band has four other confirmed dates which along with the July 3rd show are listed below.
